What is not included in the one-time price
Updated 5 September 2026 · ~6 min read
Why SOC monitoring, unlimited maintenance, training and forensics are scoped services — and why permanently deleted data cannot always be recovered.
What this means for you
The one-time licence/setup fee does not include lifetime 24×7 SOC monitoring, unlimited free maintenance for every vendor change, unlimited free customisation/training/content admin, or unlimited free incident forensics.
Many of those services can be provided — they are chargeable and must be explicitly discussed so scope and depth are clear before work starts.
Why these sit outside a one-time licence
A licence fee pays for the right to use the platform and the agreed initial delivery. Ongoing security operations centres, open-ended training, deep forensics and endless store/OS churn are continuous labour. Bundling them “for free forever” into a fixed one-time price would either underfund support or inflate the licence for everyone.
Examples
- SOC / monitoring: 24×7 threat monitoring is a separate operational service with staffing cost — not a checkbox inside a licence invoice.
- Training & content admin: uploading hundreds of lectures or training your team for two weeks is project work; we quote by scope.
- Forensics & recovery: investigating a compromised admin account can be scoped. If data was permanently deleted, backups were never enabled, or evidence no longer exists, recovery may be impossible — no vendor can reverse a hard delete without a backup.
What LMS White can do: quote customisation, training, maintenance and forensics when you ask — after scope is agreed in writing.
What physics and cloud platforms dictate: permanently deleted objects without backup cannot be restored. That is a storage/system fact, not LMS White withholding a secret archive of your student database after handover.
